What Service Are you Interested in?
This package includes complete prenatal care, labor, delivery, and postpartum services.
We offer complete birth packages which include comprehensive prenatals, labor monitoring and support, birth, and postnatals. The prenatal schedule is as follows; monthly visits until 28 weeks, biweekly visits from 28 to 36 weeks, and weekly from 37 weeks until birth. We are on call during the entirety of your birth experience to answer questions, or attend to emergent situations. We are also on call beginning at 37 weeks for your birth. When you reach 5-6 cm, we stay with you through out labor, and for 4 hours postpartum (longer if necessary). If transport is necessary, a primary midwife or student accompanies you. We schedule postnatal visits at 24-48 hours, 5-7 day visit, 3 week visit, and 6 week visit. Birth certificate paperwork is handled by us.
The support of a birth and/or postpartum doula can help facilitate an enhanced birth experience, more focused healing, and increased bonding in the postpartum period. Doulas are emotional, and physical support persons for the birthing person and their family. Doulas are non-medical providers, and are different from midwives. There are birth, postpartum, and infant loss/bereavement doulas who you can book as needed. First time mothers are required to have a birth doula. Doula costs are not covered by the birth package fess. Doula costs are not covered by the birth package fees.
The fee for the complete birth package is discussed privately. The cost of physician back up, lab work, and ultrasound is separate. Each client will also need to purchase their own birth kit. The birth tub rental fee (if desired) is also separate. Fees can be paid by cash, check, pay pal, venmo, HSA/FSA, or credit cards including Square After Pay (credit cards require a 3.5% service charge).
Insurance Billing
Mt. Laurel Midwifery partners with Midwives Advantage, a trusted company specializing in maternity claims for out-of-hospital births. Since 2010, Midwives Advantage has successfully helped families receive insurance reimbursement for midwifery care and out-of-hospital births.
Here’s how it works:
Upfront Payment with Discount: You will receive a pre-payment discount for paying in full before delivery. Your payment will be made directly to Mt. Laurel Midwifery before the birth.
Claim Submission: After your birth, we will submit your medical claim to Midwives Advantage, who will file electronic claims for all the services you received with your insurance company.
Reimbursement to You: Once your claim has been paid and your insurance has been processed, you may be eligible for a refund from us. Insurance payments vary due to differing deductibles and co-insurance.
Midwives Advantage also provides:
Out-of-Network Advocacy: They pursue fair claim payments for out-of-network providers.
Appeals for Low Payment or Denial: If your claim is underpaid or denied, their experienced billing team will work with you to file an appeal on your behalf.
Strong Track Record: With over a decade of experience, Midwives Advantage has a strong history of success in getting claims paid for families choosing midwifery care.
Midwives Advantage does not manage payment plans or financial agreements. All financial arrangements are made directly between you and Mt. Laurel Midwifery.
We are proud to partner with a team that shares our commitment to making midwifery care accessible and reimbursable.
Of note. . . please consider signing up for a health share organization. Some examples of highly recommended health shares are We Share, Samaritan Ministries, Christian Ministries, Liberty Healthcare, Solidarity, and Zion Health. These companies cover midwifery care and home birth in full, and would also cover a hospital transfer, if necessary. They are a great alternative to traditional health insurance. If CHM clients reach out within the first 16 weeks of conception, they receive a $500.00 personal responsibility credit.
The Philly Birth Fund was created at the start of the pandemic to provide grants to Black families who were unable to afford a home birth. Visit phillybirthfund.
This practice includes a not for profit called, Mountain Laurel Midwifery Open Hands. It is my goal to develop this not for profit so that grants can be given to families who otherwise might not afford midwifery care. At present, I am seeking strong Board members and grant writers. As well, you can go to the “Giving ” page to make a tax deductible donation. I am sure that a birthing mother able to stay at home, in part, because of your donation would be deeply grateful.

This is like a wedding coordinator but for your birth. Everything is handled for you! Do you love to be pampered, particularly in the postpartum period? Do you want a much more elevated prenatal, labor, and postpartum experience… then the Bougie Birth Package is for you!
In the Bougie Birth Package, you get all that’s included within the Basic Birth Package, but way more!
Here are the extras: All of the prenetal care is done by me. Rather than the standards labs, however, we will perform labs that are much more in-depth; micronutrient testing, cortisol evaluation, thyroid panel. These labs will help me formulate an individualized nutrition, and vitamin regimen especially for you, thereby ensuring the healthiest pregnancy. During labor, you will be provided with a doula and your midwife.
Once you deliver, we will continue to pamper you. Your doula will commence with cleaning, and I will prepare you a special postpartum meal. In the postpartum period, you will receive one visit from a massage therapist in your home. A special Bemer machine will be left with you for 1 week. These Bemer machines are incredible for advanced healing in the postpartum period. You will receive 4 more visits from your midwife and two visits from your doula. On both of your visits, the doula will prepare your herbal sitz baths and belly binding as desired. The birth sling, birthing tub, placenta encapsulations, and professional photographer are also included in this birth package.

Additional services are available for both Mountain Laurel Midwifery clients (those purchasing a midwifery package) and women who are using other birthing providers (other midwives, birthing centers, hospital births, or free births).
There are numerous testimonials by women, along with anecdotal studies on the benefits of ingesting your placenta. Please see the page on Placenta Encapsulation for complete information.
Prenatal services are for those who are planning unattended home births, but who desire midwifery care to ensure mom and baby are in optimal health for a home birth. This package includes midwifery visits every months until 32 weeks, every other week from 32 weeks to 37 weeks, and every week thereafter until delivery.
Post partum services are for those not in our care, but who desire midwifery care in the post-partum period. This is very beneficial because mothers often feel isolated, and left after they give birth. Services include evidenced-based newborn assessments, emotional support, physical recovery recommendations (supplements and herbs) and lactation support. The package includes 5 postpartum visits on day 3, weeks 1,2,4 and 6 (schedule may vary depending on our birthing mothers).
There are times, when despite comfort with your care providers, you just need something extra. I offer midwifery care whether you’re pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or simply looking for routine checkups to stay healthy through all your reproductive years. I provide consults that can put your birth experience “over the top.” Let’s have a conversation about how to elevate your experience to a whole new level.
The consultation can also be used to discuss infertility, prevention of repeated miscarriage, prevention of past pregnancy problems, and ideas about how to optimize your health to sustain future pregnancies.
In the consult, we explore topics like what the best diet is in pregnancy, the best herbs and supplements on the market, proven techniques to shorten labor and reduce pain, how to prevent post dates, and tons and tons of information on how to make postpartum healing quicker, and prevent postpartum depression.
You garner the experience of a 30 year veteran midwife who likes good science and cutting edge, up to date research. I will act as a clearing house of information so that all you need to do is grow your baby, and nurture yourself!
Virtual and In-Person Consultations are Available.
I hold an MS in Clinical Mental Health, completed a lengthy psychotherapy residency, and passed the national exam in Clinical Mental Health. In this capacity, I am able to assess and lend assistance to women in all stages of life from the childbearing years through menopause, and beyond. Trauma from sexual assault, interpartner violence, obstetrical violence, loss & grief can all be addressed. I also do relationship/marital coaching/counseling. In addition, I provide mediation around ethical, professional, and personal issues between midwives.

“Remember this, for it is as true as true gets: Your body is not a lemon. You are not a machine. The creator is not a careless mechanic. Human female bodies have the same potential to give birth as well as aardvarks, lions, rhinoceri, elephants, moose, and water buffalo. Even if it has not been your habit throughout life so far, I recommend you learn to think positively about your body.”
